Races
A popular local race organised by Horsforth Harriers.
The Apperley Bridge Canter takes place in Apperley Bridge and Horsforth and is a 10K multi terrain race that perfectly fits the runABC North way of doing things.
The course stretches to around 10.5K across trails, tracks and back roads, mixing steady runnable sections with short climbs that keep things honest. It is the kind of route where you earn every mile while still enjoying the variety underfoot.
And then there is the ABC. Not just the race name, but the message. The image says it loud and clear and we are fully on board with it. This is the runABC of racing. Atmosphere, Brilliant route, Club spirit. Mud, smiles, team vests and a proper community feel that you do not get from bigger city events.
At the centre of it all is Horsforth Harriers, a club that absolutely gets it. They are not just putting on a race, they are creating an experience. From the volunteers out on course to the buzz around race HQ, this is what happens when a club cares about its runners and its event.
Now into its 20th year, the Apperley Bridge Canter has become a popular race across Yorkshire, drawing runners back year after year. It is a key fixture for those who want something different, something a bit tougher and a lot more personal.
If you are looking for a race that genuinely delivers on the runABC formula, this is it.
Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered for the ABC race. We will be sending you a message with your role in the next week. We are still short of volunteers! Please, if you are available, fill the form below. Volunteering is not only good to help the club get funds but also to meet other club members and to enjoy the race atmosphere without getting your heart rate to roof levels. We cannot guarantee the weather but it is normally a really nice sunny evening and the cakes for sale to raise money for MND are delicious. If you have any questions about volunteering, please, do not hesitate to get in touch.
